摘要 在“重语轻文”的导向下,英语专业逐渐被“工具化”,英语专业的文学课程被不断挤压,英美文学史课成为文学课程的最后底线。然而,当下英美文学史教学中,应试升学往往成为主要教学目标,教学有脱离文学文本只传授文学概念和理论的倾向。本文认为解决这些问题涉及英语专业定位、重审文学史教学目标和认清文学史教学社会意义三方面。文学史教学需坚持“学以至知”①的人文学科教育理念,通过思辨文学史观推进学术训练,以重文本的讲授方式实现文学史教学的社会意义,教学也将因此生动有趣,令学生获益。 With the misconception that English is no more than an instrument, the curriculum of English major witnesses a drastic reduction of literature courses in recent years. English and American Literary Histories become the bottom line of literature teaching. However, teaching of literary history is often diminished into memorization of literary terms and principles of literary theories, a preparation for all sorts of examinations. This essay attempts to elaborate on how teaching, with humanistic concerns, in providing academic training and highlighting social significance of text analysis, could be both academically fruitful and socially meaningful for college students.
