从理论到拼凑:无规训与阐释的典型姿态

From theory to bricolage:Indiscipline and the exemplary gestures of interpretation

摘要 本文认为,我们推测中的"后理论"时代比任何时候都需要智识的姿态,这种姿态形成了带有形形色色伪装的理论的特征。在描绘了近期理论发展的简短历史图式之后,文章区分了智力活动的四个维度(说明,建模,故事讲述,反思),只要我们想试图理解我们的世界,这些维度就会始终交织在一起。文章接下来指出,这四个维度全都包含在阐释活动中,这种阐释活动理应显示为理论在另一种意义上的延续。在与瓦莱德·高泽西(Wlad Godzich)、斯蒂文·奈普(Steven Knapp)和丹尼尔·吉廖利(Daniele Giglioli)或克洛德·列维-斯特劳斯(Claude Lévi-Strauss)的对话中,文章重新将阐释描述为一种无规训形式,相比于现代"科学"非现实的理想化而言,它更接近于"野性思维"的拼凑。然而,它的结论却是,拒绝这样的二分法,而呼吁"理论拼凑"(theoricolage),即理论与拼凑之间无规训的、愉快的混合。 This article suggests that our supposedly 'post-theoretical' age is more than ever in need of the intellectual gestures which characterised theory in its various guises.After a brief historical schematisation of the recent evolutions of theory,it distinguishes four dimensions of intellection(accounting,modelling,storytelling,speculating),which are constantly weaved together whenever we attempt to make sense of our world.It then shows that these four dimensions arc all included in the activity of interpretation,which deserves to appear as a continuation of theory by other means.In dialogue with Wlad Godzich,Steven Knapp and Walter Ben Michaels,Daniele Giglioli or Claude LeviStrauss,it re-describes interpretation as a form of indiscipline closer to the bricolage of 'the savage mind' than to the unrealistic idealisation of modern 'Science'.It concludes,however,by rejecting such dichotomies and by calling for 'theoricolage' as an indisciplinary and cheerful mix of theory and bricolage.
