OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effect of application of health education in elderly patients with artificial hip joint replacement. METHODS 108 elderly patients with hip replacement methods were randomly divided into observation group and control group, 54 cases in each group. The control group used routine nursing care. The observation group were used health education measures based on the control group. The joint function, ability of daily life(ADL), deep venous thrombosis, the incidence of prosthesis dislocation and nursing satisfaction was compared between the two groups. RESULTS The excellent rate of joint function of the observation group was 90.74%, it was significantly higher than that of the control group(77.78%), the difference was statistically significant (P〈0.05). The incidence of deep vein thrombosis and prosthesis dislocation rate of the observation group were 5.56% and 1.85%, they were sig- nificantly lower than those of the control group(22.22%, 12.96%), the difference was statistically significant(P〈0.05). Barthel index scores and nursing satisfaction of the observation group after nursing were significantly higher than those of the control group, the dif- ference was statistically significant(P〈0.05). CONCLUSION Health education could significantly improve the joint function of elderly patients with artificial hip replacement surgery, reduce postoperative complications and the occurrence of dislocation of the prosthe- sis and improve the quality of life of patients. It had clinical application value.
