During the fifties in the Cold War,some left-wing intellectuals relinquished their oppositional attitude toward America, and began to identify themselves with the country and its social system both in their action and writings. Different in research areas, they showed a similar attitude of 'celebrating'America and put much emphasis on the significance of being identified with the country. Meanwhile,in the atmosphere of the Cold War,identification with America played a critical role in their professional research, exploring the specific characteristics of America from the perspective of history, literature and politics——a phenomenon known as 'celebration of America'.
