摘要
杨杏佛是中国现代科学事业杰出的活动家和组织领导者。 他参与创办《科学》月刊，曾一度担任编辑部长，并亲自撰写了大量宣传科学的文章。他参与创办中国第一个学术团体——中国科学社，积极从事中国科学社的各项工作，在推动科学事业的发展中做出了贡献。他还以演讲的形式宣传科学，其中有些见解颇为深刻，至今仍有重要意义。
Yang Xin4u, a famous patriot and democrat, was an outstanding activist and organizer in promoting science development in China. He was one of the organizers and director of the editorial department of Science, a monthly magazine for some time. He wrote many articles to propagate science, participated in establishing the first Chinese natural science body, the Science Society, and enthusiastically contributed a lot for it. Besides, he disseminated science by lectures and speeches which still carry profound significance up to now.
