摘要
在孙中山的生平故旧中，武昌刘成禺是不应当被忽视的。据载，孙刘之间在1900年即有联系。1902年，刘氏受湖北官派赴日留学，在孙领导下积极从事反清活动。1904年刘氏赴美留学后，主持旧金山《大同日报》，大力宣传革命主张与孙中山学说，并将孙介绍给旅欧湖北留学生。从南京临时政府成立初期至1916年袁世凯去世，孙刘关系从疏离走向对立。护法军兴，孙刘复合，迄1925年孙中山逝世，二人关系密切。孙中山还为刘氏的《太平天国战纪》、《洪宪纪事诗》作序。总之，研究孙中山与刘成禺的关系，对了解孙中山生平活动与中国近代史，均有一定的价值。
Liu Cheng-yu was a close friend of Sun Yat-sen. Their relation was established in 1900. In 1903 Mr.Liu was sent to study in Japan by Hubei provincial government. Since then, he took part actively in Anti-Qing activities under Sun's leadership. In 1904, Mr.Liu went to study in San Fransico, USA, where he took charge of Da Tong Daily. He worked enthusiastically to dissenminate revolutionary ideas and Sun Yat-sen's doctrines. Moreover, he introduced Mr.Sun to the Chinese sutdents in Europe from Hubei province. In the early Nanjing Temporary Government period(1912), Sun and Liu became hostile, and t hen, estranged. Not untill the “HuFa” war broke out, did they reconciled. From then on, their comradeship recovered and remained closely till Sun Yat-sen's Death in 1925. For example, Sun Yat-sen had prefaced Liu's two works, A Hist ory of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom and Hong Xian Ji Shi Shi. In a word, a study of the relationship between Sun Yat-sen and Liu Cheng-yu is of help to understand Mu.Sun's activities and mordern Chinese history.
