摘要
首次提出基于微波光链路来对激光器的相对强度噪声进行测量,并对其有效性进行了实验验证.激光器作为微波光链路的重要模块,其相对强度噪声对微波光链路的相位噪声影响较大,当单频点微波信号通过微波光链路后,其相位噪声会被该链路的噪声污染,通过计算相位噪声的变化能有效评估激光器的相位噪声.相比传统测量方法而言,该方案能够避免光电器件近直流有色噪声对测量结果的干扰,实现精确测量的目的.
This paper proposes and presents the experimental verii^cation of a new method for measuring the relative intensity noise (RIN) of a laser. As an important microwave-photonic link (MPL) module, the RIN of a laser contributes to the systematic noise of the intensity modulation and direct detection MPL, thus increasing the phase noise of the transmitted carrier. This physical phenomenon is used to measure the RIN of a laser. Compared with previous methods, the proposed technique is less strongly influenced by near-DC colored noise. Experimental results show that the MPL-based measurement method proposed in this paper is more accurate in the near-DC frequency band than traditional approaches.
