IPR Protection:China Customs in Action

2014年中国海关根据进出口环节侵权违法活动的特点，积极主动地开展执法活动。在全国42个直属海关关区中，33个有查获侵权嫌疑货物的记录。针对电子商务发展迅猛．一些不法分子采取互联网下单，通过邮递、快件渠道跨境运输侵权商品增势明显的情况，各地海关都有针对性地加大了对邮递环节出口侵权货物的查缉力度。

China is earnest to be more active and effective inexecuting laws and regulations on intellectual property rights.In recent years, China Customs has been ramping up its effortsto protect intellectual property rights in imports and exports.In 2014,customs officials detained nearly 23,000 batches of goods allegedly related to the infringement ofIPR, covering about 90 million pieces of products. Most ofthe goods are cigarettes, light industrial products, cosmetics,clothes,metal hardware and shoes. Nearly 99.6% of thegoods were detained over trademark violations, and about 96.3% of the detained goods were transported by sea. Thecases on medical appliance, cigarettes, jewelry, cosmeticsand storage media have grown remarkably, and the cases onmetal hardware, medicines, caps, communication devices,toys, food and beverage, and suitcases have declined evidently. The detained goods were involved with 153 countries or districts. The goods supposed to export to the Middle East, Africa and South America grew rapidly.China Customs used more technological tools and risk management measures in protecting intellectual property 、rights. The authority also implemented several special operations, while enhancing the cooperation with other national authorities and international partners. These improved the efficacy of the country's border protection of intellectual property rights, and is helpful in building a more fair and transparent market.
