Fuma Duwei of Liao Dynasty

驸马都尉本为皇帝近侍显官,后为帝婿的专属官职。辽代的驸马都尉最晚在景宗朝已经出现,景圣之际,驸马都尉的授予趋于定型、普遍。辽代的驸马都尉虽为虚衔,但由于成员大体出自后族,加之与皇族的联姻,凭借驸马都尉一职可得以较快晋升,官至枢府。驸马都尉的授予伴随着丰厚的政治利益,影响驸马的个人前途和家族势力。

Fuma Duwei, a position （also the official in this position） of the lbrmer guard ot emperors, evolved to an official occupation reserved exclusively for emperors＇ son-in-law afterwards. Liao＇s Fuma Duwei appeared in Emperor Jingzong＇s reign and tended to be established and became popular in Emperor Jingsheng＇s reign. Although Liao＇s Fuma Duwei was no more than a title, people in this position could get rapidly promoted even to a position high as the cabinet, via their kinship with queens and royal marriage. Together with the title came generous political benefit which would influence Fuma Duwei＇s personal prospect and family power.
