从学习英国创办殖民地学院、借鉴法国创办州立大学到受德国影响创办研究型大学,美国高等教育史是一部吸收和借鉴别国先进高等教育经验基础上的集成创新,其快速发展是与其国家的发展相互促进的。我国高教发展必须是吸收基础上的创新而不能全盘引进西方特别是美国的教育模式和管理方式,随着我国综合国力和经济、文化的发展,我们一定能创造出中国的高等教育理论。

From founding its own colonial college on the basis of British universities, establishment of state and research universities on the basis of French and German experiences, the American higher education has con- stantly absorbed and innovated lessons from the advanced overseas experiences. The history of the modern Ameri- can higher education has provided experiences for the development of Chinese higher education.
