In China,John Keats’ s poems have never attracted any concentrated analysis as to possible colonial connections, and their shocking truth behind beauty is ignored. On the basis of new-historicism and post-colonialism,the deep structures of the poems are to be excavated with the help of his biography and letters. Examing the relationships between the British Empire and the old empires, such as the Aztecs,Greece,Egypt,India, etc. in the decisive period of the 19 thcentury,we can reveal how Keats’ poetry somehow participated in Europe’s oversea expansion, reflecting the Western style for dominating, restructuring, and having authority over the Orient.
