《史记》《汉书》酷吏列传存在史实记述、谴词用语、天子称谓等诸多差异。两者对待酷吏态度的不同,与司马迁、班固的身世经历、所处时代的文化专制程度都有极大的关系。班固将张汤、杜周从酷吏传中析出,另立它传,是根据类传与专传体例所作的调整,这也是班固对史书体例精细化的一个例证。

There are many differences such as the history, wording, appellation of emperors and so on between the biographies of merciless officials in ＂Historical Records＂ and ＂Han History＂. It has a great deal to do with Si maqian＇s and Ban Gu＇s different family backgrounds and life experiences. In addition, it is an adjustment according to the compares of phyletic and specialized biography that Ban Gu picked Zhang Tang and Du Zhou out and set a specialized biography. And it is also an example of Ban Gu＇s contribution to refining the style of history book.
