Liberalism View of Woman during the May 4th Movement Period:Construction and Transcendence

五四时期自由主义妇女观是自由主义移植到中国的结果。它以自由主义的"人"的概念为逻辑起点,呼吁中国女性做一个有独立人格的自由的人。五四时期自由主义妇女观具有别于西方自由主义妇女观的民族特点,对现代中国妇女解放运动起到了重要推动作用。但由于阶级和时代的局限以及国情的差异,它不可能解决中国的妇女解放问题,最终被马克思主义所超越。

As a result of the transplantation of liberalism into China,liberalism view of woman during the May 4th period,taking the concept of “man”as the logical starting point,called on Chinese woman to be a free person with independent personality.It is different from the western liberalism concept and has Chinese national characteris-tics,and plays an important part in accelerating modern Chinese women′s liberation movement.But due to the lim-itations of class nature and the times,and the difference of national conditions,it can′t solve the problem of China′s women′s liberation.In the end,it has finally been transcended by Marxism.
