摘要
在美国当代戏剧的进程中,奥古斯特·威尔逊是一位不可忽视的人物。他独具匠心地将历史、地域、音乐和宗教四大元素揉入自己的世纪之作,以此表达对黑人身份的认同。通过深入剖析他的系列作品,我们不难发现,这些元素在凸显了戏剧主题的同时,还折射出了一种浓郁的美国黑人民族情结。而这种民族情结既是威尔逊的创作动力,又是帮助黑人群体在经历了黑白两种文化冲突后进行自我定位的精神标杆。
August Wilson is a significant figure in the modern process of American drama. He expresses the identity of African Americans by ingeniously incorporating four elements as history, region, musicand religion into his cycle plays. Through comprehensive analysis of this dramatist's plays, we can easilyfind that these elements reflect a deep national complex of African Americans and simultaneously theyhighlight the motif of those plays. This national complex is either Wilson's creation impetus or a spiritualbenchmark which helps American blacks position themselves after they have experienced the conflicts be-tween both whites and blacks" cultures.
