James Legge＇ s translation of Chinese classics, important in translation studies, is the result of consideration of various factors, targeted readers, translation principle and methods. Each step in the process of translation is the interaction, namely, selective adaptation and adaptive selection, between the translator and the translation ecosystem. Analysis of Legge＇ s translation shows that as the subject of translation, the translator should coordinate the factors in this system and seek for a positive interaction.
