Outcomes,Obstacles and Solutions in the Cross-Straits Economic Cooperation at the New Stage

2008年两岸关系进入和平发展阶段以来,两岸经济合作取得了一系列重要成果,但受两岸结构性矛盾难以纾解、岛内政治生态日益复杂、区域经济一体化趋势日益增强等因素相互交织的影响,两岸经济合作面临新的挑战。在此情势下,两岸应创新思维,加快设计两岸经济关系发展的顶层制度;适应经济发展新常态,创新两岸经济合作新路径和新模式;以自贸区建设为契机,积极推进台海区域经济一体化进程。

A series of notable outcomes have been achieved in the cross-Straits economic cooperation ever since 2008 when the cross-Straits relations entered a stage of peaceful development. However, the cross-Straits e- conomic cooperation is facing new challenges due to the overlapping influences from as-yet unresolved structural contradictions between both sides of the Taiwan Straits, increasingly complex political environment in Taiwan as well as more and more intensified trend of regional economic integration. Under such circumstances, both sides should have innovative thinking and speed up the design of a top--level system for the cross-Straits economic de- velopment; explore a new path or a new model for economic cooperation from a multi-dimensional perspective; and actively promote regional economic integration across the Taiwan Straits.
