摘要国际阅读素养进展研究（Progress in International Reading Literacy Study简称“PIRLS”），是由国际教育成绩评价委员会主持的全球性学生阅读素养比较研究。它选择四年级的学生（年龄在9—10岁）来评价，是因为这个学段处在阅读的关键期，学生由学习阅读转型为通过阅读来学习。国际教育成绩评价委员会对各国儿童阅读素养领域的关注长达40余年，1991年它开始对32个国家进行阅读素养评价。
