The Impact of English Learning on Developing Students'Thinking Skills

本文结合英语语言和英语学习过程的特点,讨论英语学习对促进学生思维能力发展的作用。英语学习有利于促进以下思维能力的发展:观察与发现能力,比较与分析能力,逻辑思维能力,概念建构能力,信息记忆与转换能力,批判思维能力,认识周围世界的能力,时空判断能力,严密思维能力和创新思维能力。

Based on some features of the English language and the process of English learning, this paper discusses what thinking skills can be enhanced in the process of learning English. Ten thinking skills are discussed： observing and discovering skills, comparing and analyzing skills, logical thinking skills, conceptualizing skills, information retrieving and transforming skills, critical thinking skills, perceiving skills, temporal and spatial skills, close thinking skills, and creative thinking skills.
