Academician Guodong Cheng, the Chief-Editor of Sciences in Cold and Arid Regions, was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award of International Permafrost Association （IPA） in Evora, Portugal on /9 June 2014. The IPA awarded Professor Cheng to recognize his outstanding contributions in the field of frozen soil science and engineering research during the past one-half century.
