摘要野鸡杂志迅速增长，令有些人称之为“创造了学术诈骗时代”。这些杂志索要高额费用，但不提供编辑和出版方面的服务。它们通过肆无忌惮的营销手段和铺天盖地的垃圾邮件到处拉稿，许诺只要缴纳费用，即可快速审稿，开放获取（openaccess，OA）发表。
