Historical Survey and Cultural Analysis of the founding of the St.Petersburg Academy of Sciences

1724年2月8日彼得堡科学院成立是近代科学在俄罗斯产生的标志性事件。彼得堡科学院的创建不仅与罗斯"面向西方"的文化传统息息相关,更有赖于17—18世纪俄国特定的社会文化环境。基于俄国18世纪初的现状,彼得堡科学院的创建具有偶然性,但它却是俄罗斯新文化的重要载体,对俄罗斯民族文化的现代化和发展走向、社会思想意识的演变均产生了深远影响。

The St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences was founded on the 8th of February 1724, and it was a landmark event for modern science in Russia. The St. Petersburg Academy was founded not only because of the cultural tradition at the time of＂facing the West＂, but also depended on the 17th and 18th century Russian social and cultural environment. Although the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences was a product of social circumstance of early 18th century Russia, it was an important carrier of Russia＇s new culture. It brought about a huge influence for the modernization of Russian national culture, development trends, and the evolution of social ideology.
