潮侨捐资与“八二”风灾后韩师的重建——潮汕华侨在本土教育捐资的个案研究

Overseas Chaoshan People and the Reconstruction of Hanshan Normal School after Typhoon "8.2" A Case Study of the Overseas Chaoshan People's Donation to the Education

二十世纪二、三十年代,随着潮汕地区海外移民人数和经济实力的增长,侨资广泛而深刻地影响着潮汕社会的各个方面。在对本土公益事业的贡献上,潮侨捐资办学、助学的举措蔚然成风。韩师（省立第二师范学校）在遭受特大风灾后,很大程度上是在华侨的资助下完成其重建计划的。该个案表明,华侨在潮汕占有举足轻重的地位,对教育的捐资不再局限于原籍所在小范围的乡村,他们已关注到大范围的区域。

With the increase of the numbers of the emigrants and the power of the economy, the funds from the overseas Chinese had influenced extensively and deeply on every aspect in the Chaoshan society from the 1920's to 1930' In the contribution of the native public welfare, it was common that the overseas Chaoshan people ran schools and subsidized the students who came from the poor families. After the catastrophic typhoon, the rebuilding project of Hanshan Normal School (The No.2 Normal School of Guangdong Province) was accomplished to a great extent by the overseas Chaoshan people's financial aid. The case indicates the importance of the overseas Chaoshan people. They do not limit donations for the education to the villages in the small regions of their ancestral homes, moreover, they show their solicitude to larger and broader areas.
