Objective To understand the effect of antiviral therapy on blood glucose of interferon. Methods Collection of 1 73 patients with chronic viral hepatitis were given interferon antiviral therapy in the treatment of 0 week, 4 weeks and 48 weeks respectively for determination of fasting blood glucose (FPG)and insulin (FINS),and the homeostasis model assessment insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR)was calculated. Results After four weeks of treatment,FPG decreased, but compared with before treatment, the difference was not statistically significant,HOMA-IR decreased compared with before treatment (P 〈 0.05 );after 48 weeks of treatment,FPG and HOMA - IR improved (P 〈0.05).Conclusion Early use of interferon treatment appears to improve insulin resistance, but with the treatment time it may worsen insulin resistance, causing rise in blood sugar.
