On the Theoretical Purport and Social Significance of Fraternity

友爱作为广泛存在并对人类具有深刻影响的一种情感,具有不可忽视的社会意义。然而,商品经济的迅速发展所带来的人的异化,导致了友爱的蜕变——友爱逐渐被冷漠所替代。因此对于友爱的研究和思索显得尤其必要。近年来频发的校园害友事件、道德异乡人问题以及生态环境问题等社会事实也分别从人与人、人与社会及人与自然的角度反映了当今社会友爱的缺失。通过对中西方友爱观的研究对比可以看出,友爱的落脚点在于人自身。因此解决问题的办法应着眼于教育事业,通过家庭教育、学校教育、社会教育相结合的方式,最终达到友爱的回归。

Fraternity, as an emotion extensively existing and having profound impact on human beings, is of great social significance. However, human beings＇ alienation, generated by and developing with the commodity economy, has led to the metamorphosis of fraternity----fraternity is gradually substituted by indifference. Therefore, study and reflection on fraternity is particularly important. Recent years, fre- quent issues of killing schoolmates in campus, moral stranger issues, ecological and environmental issues and the like have reflected the fraternity default from the angles of man and man, man and society, man and nature respectively. Through a comparative study on Chinese and western views on fraternity,we have reached a conclusion that the foothold of sustaining fraternity is in human beings. Accordingly, the key to handling the aforementioned issues is education, namely regaining fraternity through the joint efforts of family education, school education and social education.
