关联理论指导下的翻译活动

Translation under the Guidance of Relevance Theory

作为认知语用学中最为人所熟知的理论之一,关联理论的运用范围不仅仅限于语用学,其对翻译活动也有很强的解释和指导作用。该文首先探讨了关联理论的主要观点,主要包括:交际是明示——推理的过程;交际涉及信息意图和交际意图,更注重交际意图的实现;交际的成功取决于交际双方认知语境的互明和最佳关联性。然后,说明举例关联理论在翻译实践中的指导性意义。从关联理论来看,翻译活动的最终目标是实现源语与目的语之间的最佳关联,传达出原作者的交际意图。

As one of the most widespread theories in cognitive pragmatics, Relevance Theory can he applied not only in pragmatics, but it can also explain and guide translation. In this paper, the author first explains the main ideas of Relevance Theory. The main ideas are the following： communication is a process of giving information and making inferencel communication involves both informative intention and communicative intention, in which communicative intention is more important; the success of communication depends on the understanding of cognitive contexts by both sides and the best relevance between the two sides. Then the author tries to use some ideas of Relevance Theory to explain some examples in translation. According to Relevance Theory, the ultimate goal of translation is to forge the strongest links between source language and target language, and then convey the communicative purposes of the original writer.
