Clinical Application of Cinnamon Twig Decoction

凡太阳病,无论已治或未治,只要症见头痛、发热、汗出、恶风者;表证汗下后,正气受损,表邪留恋未解者;表证兼里虚不甚,脉不浮紧而浮弱者;非外邪所致营卫不和,自汗,发作阵作者;太阴中风证或太阴表证,症见四肢烦疼、脉浮取而微、沉取而涩者;太阳病误下,正气抗邪于上,其气上冲,热痞兼表证者;阳明经表证症见目痛、鼻干、额头作痛、缘缘面赤、汗多脉迟者;阳明日晡发热兼寒热如疟,脉虚浮的太阳表证;太阴虚寒兼表证身疼者;妊娠恶阻,产后中风持续不解者等,病机均为营卫不和,临床均可应用桂枝汤。

Cinnamon Twig Decoction can be used in the following cases： Taiyang diseases which were ＇already treated or not yet treated with the symptoms of headache, fever, sweating, aversion to wind; healthy qi impairment and non-elimination of external pathogen after sweating method for external disease; external syndrome mingled with slight internal deficiency without floating and tense pulse or with floating and weak pulse; disharmony between the defensive and nutrient phases which is not caused by exter- nal pathogen, spontaneous sweating, and with intermittent attacks; Taiyin Wind Stroke syndrome or Taiyin external syndrome with symptoms of painful limbs, faint pulse by floating taking, and unsmooth pulse by deep taking; misuse of purgatives leading to healthy qi struggling with pathogen in the upper, qi attacking upward, heat fullness mingled with external syndrome; Yangming external syndrome with the symptoms of painful eyes, dry nose, painful forehead, redden face ＇all over, profuse sweating with slow pulse; Yangming fever from 3 to 5 p. m. mingled with alternative cold and heat like malaria, and Taiyang external syndrome with weak anti floating pulse; Taiyin deficient-cold mingled with body pain due to external syndrome, pernicious vomiting, con- tinuous non-elimination of affection by cold after delivery, and the syndrnme due to disharmony between the nutrient and defen- sive phases.
