Main mechanism of coal wall spalling in the fully mechanized mining face was analyzed from the mechanical point of view, and three main forms of coal wall spalling were pointed out, the main factors that affect coal wall spalling in the mining face were described, and proposed targeted control measures according to specific circumstances of coal wall spalling.
