The tailwater cofferdam of the extension project locates at the tailrace of the phase-I Yantan hydropower station. In the feasibility study stage, the road for erection bay is reconstructed first, and then the tailwater outlet structures, which has great difficulty in practice. The paper analyzes in detail the reasons for cofferdam modification and introduces the design of the tailwater cofferdam in feasibility study stage and in detailed design stage.
