The Information Office of Shanxi Peo-ple’ s Government had masterminded a range of impressive and high profile activ ities in order to give Shanxi International Economic Cooperation,Trade and Tourism Week a multilevel,multifaceted and multi directional publicity.Capitalizing on the ubiq uitous World Wide Web,it designed special W eb pages on such home pages asShanxi,Chi-na(www.shanxi -china.com),News From Shanxi(www.shanxi -china.com /news )andShanxi Hotline(www.sx.cninfo.net).All that the Office had done was a guarantee for the Week’ s complete success.So,in retrospect,it is important to create an environment i n which an innovative and open publicity pre vails so as to give Shanxi a much higher nation al and international profile.
At the invitation of the Publicity Department of CPC and All-China Journalist Association, a twelve-member Korean Press Delegation headed by Mr. Kim Yong Mo, President of Korean Journalist Association, paid a visit to Shanxi from 19 to 22, April. It is the tenth time of cultural exchanges between Korea and China since the two countries established diplomatic relation in 1992. The delegation was composed of officers of Korean influential news media, heads of local journalist associations and famous reporters. During their stay in Shanxi, the Korean guests toured Jinci Memorial Temple in Taiyuan, Qiao's Courtyard in Qixian, the walled city of Pingyao, Guangsheng Temple at Hongtong, and Hukou waterfall of the Yellow River beside Jixian. And in Guanzhuang Village, Hongtong County, they were the guests of a farmer's family. They also called at Shanxi Daily.The Korean guests appreciated very much the hospitality shown to them by Shanxi people wherever they went; they expressed that they would tell whatever they saw in Shanxi to the Korean people when they were back home. President Kim said movingly:“would like to come to Shanxi again and I wish from the bottom of my heart that Korean-China friendship will last forever.”
