The position of ethnic Chinese and that of their literature in American ethnic politics and literary field shift in accordance with the interests of American state and Sino-American relationships. This paper deals with the above-mentioned positions by expounding on the patriarchal consciousness of Chinese American writers and their calling for home and state in the context of their literary writings and horizon of expectation from their audience.
