Chinese Folk Jokes is a kind of short folk sayings which face up with the current or make gags with occa- sional insertions of obscene languages by poking fun at the mainstream, subverting the authorities, deconstructing the classics, jesting about human life and dispelling traditions, thus two effects can be created. One is mutual ap- preciation or "being looked at", and the other is the joke - makers' temporary "utopia" in the spirit of the carnival by suspending their actual worries and relieving their oppressed emotions. Folk Jokes, originated from Chinese ancient jokes, covers a wide range of Chinese works such as folk stories, legends, fables, fairy tales, allegories, doggerel, even some couplets, riddles, discourses, crambos, talk shows and xiehouyu (two- part allegorical say- ings). It is not necessarily funny, but is satirical, full of wisdom and thought - provoking.
