On Cultural Resources of the South China Sea

2000多年前中国人民就在开发、经营和管辖南海诸岛及其附近海域的漫长历史进程中,使中国陆地文明与海洋文明相互交映与浸染。由此产生的南海人文资源集中在人文景观和文化资源两个方面,包括人类活动遗迹、文化资源和现代社会生活产物,其人文价值之高,体现了中国人民与南海的血脉联系。因此,科学地制定保护、开发、利用南海人文资源的战略,是实现其可持续发展的重要前提,有利于进一步显示我国在南海的存在,使维权体系和维权内涵更加完善;有利于发挥示范效应,为维护我国南海海洋权益提供更多实践经验。

2000 years ago, the Chinese people have begun to develop and administer the South China Sea and its surrounding waters, which made Chinese land civilization and ocean civilization integrated. The cultural resources of South China Sea concentrate on two aspects-cultural landscape and cultural resources, including remains of human activities, cultural resources, and products of modem social life, which possesses highly humanity value and reflects the Chinese people＇ s close contact with the South China Sea. Thus, a scientific strategy of protecting, developing and making full use of cultural resources is an important premise to realize its sustainable development and existence in the South China Sea. What＇ s more, the strategy will be conducive to perfect its rights system and activist connotation, show its demonstration effect, and also provide more practical experience to safeguard the rights and interests of the South China Sea.
