摘要
本文分析学生工作经历是否影响就业起薪和其他福利,并且分析其作用路径及对其他人力资本的影响。本文采用了OLS方法和基于匹配的平均处理效应方法(ATT)分别进行了估计。使用OLS和ATT分析都得出了学生工作经历对起薪有正面效应的结论,且各类学生工作经历对收入影响有一定差别。对影响路径的分析发现,学生工作对起薪起作用的主要渠道是增加到外企工作的机会以及提高获得面试机会和工作机会的成功率。另外,学生工作经历可能促进证书获取、兼职、成为党员和学分绩点。总之,学生工作对于大学毕业生有较强的综合正面效应。本文对于认识学生工作这种"非正式工作"经验的收入效应有一定意义。
This paper examines the effect of student leadership experiences on starting salary and other welfare for college graduates in China's Mainland, acting paths through which leadership experiences may affect earnings, and possible crowding-out effects on other human capital. We apply the OLS method and the matching-based average treatment effect on the treated method (ATT) respectively. The OLS analysis and the ATT analysis return highly comparable results that support economic returns to leadership experiences, with the returns varying with the type of student leadership. Possible reasons for the economic returns include increased chances of working in the foreign enterprises and improved success rates of acquiring job interviews and job offers. In addition, student leadership experiences do not crowd out other human capital investments; on the contrary, the experiences seem to have positive effects on students' technical certificate acquiring, part-time job taking, Communist Party membership, and GPA rankings. In short, student leadership experiences have an overall positive effect for college graduates. This paper helps understand the effect of informal work experience on income.
