Retrospecting to the Trudging Trajectory of American Women: An Analysis of the Transition of American Women's Living Status

纵观美国的历史进程,针对女性的偏见与歧视始终存在。尽管美国女性的生存状态一直处于持续改善的过程之中,但是,性别歧视思潮及由此引发的社会不公从未完全退出历史舞台。通过解读美国女性总体生存状态的变迁历程并分析其背后的主要影响因素,可以发现,自殖民地时期至今,盛行一时的传统话语体系和其他种种复杂的社会影响因子曾持续产生过或消极或积极的作用;而综合以观之,美国女性的生存环境大体上呈良性转变态势。这一社会群体和美国其他女性主义者对女性权益的追求与捍卫于此良性转变而言可谓功不可没;然而,鉴于依旧存在的性别歧视现象,美国女权捍卫者仍需继续努力。

The prejudice and discrimination against American women have been existing throughout American history. Although the living status of American women has been in a process of continuous improvement, the ideological trend of gender discrim- ination and the concomitant social injustice have never stepped down from the stage of history. Through the interpretation of the transition of American women＇s general living status and the main influencing factors behind the scene, it can be discovered that since the colonial era, the traditional discourse concerning women and other intricate social influencing factors have been persis- tently exerting either negative or positive influences. While com- prehensively speaking, the living environment of American wom- en has been manifesting the state of benign transformation. The defense of female rights and interests by American women and other feminists in the States has been essential and indispensable to the aforesaid benign transformation; nevertheless, in view of the gender discrimination still existing in American society, the defenders of women＇s rights in the States still have to continue their efforts.
