As pattern recognition receptors, Toll-like receptor(TLR) plays an important role in the recognition of invasive pathogenic microorganism in early innate immunity. TLR also plays apivotal role in the innate immunity and adaptive immunity of higher vertebrates. Bone, which belongs to the dynamic organization, plays the role of shaping and maintaining form through continuous formation and absorption. Absorption and reconstruction rely on the combined action of the osteoblast and osteoclast. These cells received accommodation by various internal and external factors. A recent study found that TLR also plays an important role in regulating bone remodeling, primarily in the differentiation as well as the maturation and function of the osteoblast and osteoclast. The study can provide important information for seeking a better method of moving orthodontic tooth by clarifying the mechanism in which TLRs control bone reconstruction. This article reviewed the TLRs' role in bone reconstruction.
