Social Plights of Female Minority Immigrants in “White Teeth”

英国移民女作家扎迪·史密斯在《白牙》中高度关注女性移民的生存状况。文章从后殖民女性主义视角探讨《白牙》中少数族裔女性移民的社会困境,指出东西方文化的冲突、父权社会的压迫和西方白人女性的歧视是造成困境的主要原因,从而导致发展中国家女性移民在白人主流社会迷失自我身份,处于失语状态的后果。

Zadie Smith,a British female immigrant writer,pays high attention to the survival of the Third World women immigrants in ＂White Teeth＂. Based on a posteolonial feminist criticism the social plights of female minority immigrants in ＂White Teeth＂ are discussed. It is pointed out that the conflict of eastern and western culture, the oppression of patriarchal society and the discrimination of the western white women are the main causes of the plights,thus make the Third World women immigrants get lost in the white mainstream society and in a state of aphasia.
