Analysis on Zhu Xi's Chinese Character Exegesis in His Exegetical Practice

朱熹在训诂实践中所采用的训诂方法,既全面继承了前人已有的成果,又能够结合时代背景来为传统的训诂方法增添新的内容。在形训中,朱熹对汉字本体的认识、对"六书"理论的采纳、对古今字的分析以及对金石文字的利用,都体现了朱熹的训诂特色,同时也对后世的训诂产生了深远影响。

The exegetical methods used by Zhu Xi in his exegetical practice, not only fully inherited the results that our predecessors had achieved, but also was able to add something new to the traditional approaches of exegesis by combining some historical backgrounds. In Chinese character exegesis, Zhu Xi’s understanding of the form of Chinese characters together with his adoption of ＂Liu Shu＂ theory, his analysis of ancient and modern words and the utilization of epigraphy, reflected the unique features of Zhu Xi’s exegetical practice. All that he did has had a far-reaching influence on later generations studying exegetics.
