The paper focused on the protection and regeneration issues of Tanhualin, a historical street of Wuhan City, points out that an old neighborhood with a profound history can accumulate a wealthy culture value and rich history memories. There is a great signiifcance to protect the culture and make efforts to regenerate them in the urban modernization process. Based on the concrete forms of Tanhualin, the paper endeavors to design a sustainable strategy for its repair and regeneration from a series of aspects, including the contemporary aesthetics, landscape architecture, the continuation of cultural memory, the manifestation of contemporary art, and the new elements involved in attempts. It aims at creating a historical street for people in the central area of the city to enjoy peaceful lives and spirits.
