摘要
在2015年"两会"期间的一次新闻发布会上,谈到反腐问题时,新闻发言人吕新华使用了"任性"一词,口译员将该词译为capricious。这一译法赢得了很多人的称赞,同时也遭到了很多的批评。本文从社会语境对流行语"任性"一词的内涵特征进行了分析,并对该词英译的关联性因素进行了探讨。
At a press conference of the ＂two sessions＂ in 2015 ,when it comes to anti-corruption issue,the spokeman Lv Xinhua used a popular Chinese phrase ＂renxing＂ which the interpreter put into ＂capricious＂. The interpretation won much applause and some criticism as well. This paper, from the perspective of social context, attempts to explore the connotation of ＂renxing＂ and correlation factors of its translation.
