During the Republic of China, the cultural and creative industry vitalized Suzhou＇s economy, enriched people＇s daily life, changed people＇s employment idea, boosted the city＇s transformation from a traditional city to a modem one, made Suzhou a creative city that relied on Shanghai, attracted the inflow of talents, consolidated and stabilized the city＇s leading position in China, rendered Suzhou a key city attractive to both talents and capital in South Jiangsu as well as a typical South Jiangsu city that developed with the boosting power of the cultural and creative industry. Currently, great efforts are made to develop the cultural and creative industry. Therefore, a review of the historical position of Suzhou＇s cultural and creative industry plays a significant role in enhancing, considering the glorious past, the senses of honor, urgency and mission for Suzhou and the other South Jiangsu cities amid the general development of China＇s cultural and creative industry.
