超验眼球的浑浊与光亮:重读爱默生的超验主义思想 被引量:1

摘要 学界对拉尔夫·沃尔多·爱默生(Ralph Waldo Emerson)超验主义的理解往往只建立于其早期作品之上,由此所得的超验主义不免显得静态而绝对,对其作品中象征超验主义的"眼球/眼睛"意象也仅停留在"透明"这一阶段。本文引入其中晚期作品,通过重新阐释这一意象在其作品中含义的变化,表明爱默生的超验主义是个动态变化的过程。本文认为,关于眼睛的意象经历了由"透明"到"浑浊"再到后来的具有神性之光这一系列的改变;同时,爱默生对超验主义也由信仰变为怀疑,并在晚期予以修正。爱默生在一生不断赋予"眼球/眼睛"新的含义,也不断地定义着超验主义。
