As the agent or patiem of the action, subject is an indispensable component in the English syntactic structure. It should be presented dominantly in the semence to make it quite explicit. This paper probes into those factors which prevent English symactic subject from being prominent, discussing and analyzing such factors as differentiation in types, diversification in constituents and determinacy in subject-predicate relation. And the internal causes and features have been revealed and expounded.
