台湾报纸第二文艺副刊的产生源于向大众靠拢,加上近年来报业处境艰难,为求生存而迎合市场需求。因此,副刊编辑倾向刊登与大多数读者生活相关的资讯和文章,选择话题性及趣味性强的主题,并大量向读者征稿,以拉近与读者的距离,提升阅报率。《联合报》双副刊——《联合副刊》持续为纯文学的推广而努力,《缤纷》则定性为"生活化的文艺副刊";《中国时报·浮世绘》不断延伸《人间》"怀抱社会,关怀土地"的触角;《自由时报·花编》逐步分担了第一副刊《自由副刊》所背负的市场扩编功能。实践证明,双副刊模式是台湾报纸文艺副刊的新出路。
