In this paper, the engineering project management, engineering project man- agement service, and plant engineering consulting service are discussed. Clear viewpoints are put forward in regard to the nature, mode, content of the above-mentioned engineering services, as well as the market demand, challenges of development and prospect of the in- dustry. It is concluded that plant engineering consulting service can be developed quickly and properly only when such aspects are concerned about as reinforcing the building of expert core team, extending the service to the upward and downstream part of the chain, building industry-university-institute cooperation mechanism, establishing learning-type organization, focusing on intensive management, and improving professional services.
