Housing Choice of Migrant Population in China : Facts and Explanation

基于2012年中国流动人口动态监测数据,文章描绘了中国城市流动人口的住房状况,探讨了流动人口在城市住房选择的影响因素。分析结果表明,流动人口住房状况恶劣,租赁是其解决住房问题的主要方式,流动人口婚姻状况、收入水平、职业类别、就业身份、流动范围、流动年限都对其住房状况有显著影响。建议提供更多的廉价租赁住房供应,满足流动人口的租赁需求。同时,采取政策措施,提升流动人口的住房可支付能力。分层次、分阶段逐渐改善流动人口的住房条件和解决流动人口的住房难题。

Based on the dynamic monitoring data of the migrant population in China （2012）, this paper depicts the housing choices of urban migrant population and analysis the determinants. It is found that housing condition of them is poor and renting house is their main way for housing. The factors such as marriage status, income, occupation, migration distance, years of migration all influence their housing conditions. The social policies to provide more low-rent housing and to enhance their housing affordability are strongly recommended to improve the migrant population＇s housing condition.
