奥林匹克的主旨是增强人类体质、意志和精神全面发展的人生哲学,是一种在比赛中增强交往、运动中寻求快乐、腾跃中展现美感、竞技中感悟教育、游戏中传播文化、欢愉中呼唤和平的生活方式,是人类生活的一部分。奥运会不是奥林匹克的全部,它是传播奥林匹克精神的外在表现形式,是一种"物的"有形载体,因而奥林匹克不只是竞技水平高低的比较,更多在于奥林匹克精神的彰显和奥林匹克文化的传播。

Olympism is a philosophy of life,exalting and combining in a balanced whole the qualities of body,will and mind. It is a life style that improves intercourse,pursues pleasure and aesthetic feeling in sports,and combines education with competition,culture with games and peace with tournament. The Olympic Games,being carrier of the spirit of Olympic Games,is not the whole of Olympism. Olympic Games are not only the comparison of sport level,but also the exhibition of the spirit and culture of the Games. The article tries to explain the meanings of Olympic Games based on the leisure view.
