A Comparative Research of Fu Sinian and Marc Bloch about Their Purposes of History Study

傅斯年与马克·布洛赫是中西两位同时代的史学大师,在各自的领域皆取得了非凡的成就,亦对后世史学的发展产生了深远的影响。在治史过程中,二人有着相似之处,主要表现在四个方面:重史料,求真实;扎根本国学术传统并借鉴国外学术成果;融民族情感于史及重视集体史学研究和注重对后辈的提携。其相异之处主要表现在两个方面:对史学科学性的解读不同和治史理论、方法的相异。

Fu Sinian and Marc Bloch are both contemporary historians respectively in China and the western world. They have made great achievements in their own academic fields. Both of them have a far-reaching influence on the later development of history study. Their similarities in history study can be seen in four aspects：an emphasis on historical materials; an exploration into the truth; a root in domestic academic tradition with an absorption of foreign achievements;a national emotion involved in history, an attention to collective history study and a support offered to younger generation of scholars. Their major differences are as follows：they have different interpretations of the science of history, and they have different theories and methods in their history studies.
