隋唐江南造船业的发展也是唐宋经济重心南移的重要表现。隋唐征东发展海上力量对江南造船业构成了刺激,战争动员也是江南造船潜力的重要表现。相比较而言,魏晋南北朝时期一度成为造船中心的巴蜀地区和山东半岛的造船业显然在隋朝就开始衰落,这也是经济重心南移特别是造船业中心"东南移"的重要标志。

The eastern expedition stimulated the development of shipbuilding industry in Yangtze River region. War mobilization stimulated the shipbuilding industry in this region. Sichuan Basin and Shandong Peninsula , once the important shipbuilding base in the periods of Wei, Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties, began to decline in the Sui Dynasty. This also marked the southern move of the economic center, especially the southeastern move of the shipbuilding base.
