The strategy, pathway and key points of research hospital are discussed. It shows that hospital brand and key discipline are the important parts for research hospital and needs to be built step by step. A series of changes such as changing from imitation technology to develop technology, from treating common disease to serious disease, from multi-points treatment mode to general treatment, from individual research to team research, from passive imitation to active innovation and from quantity centered performance to quality centered performance assessment are needed. It needs to correctly deal with couples of relations including relations between first place role and the hospital key roles, relations between clinical service and research, basic medicine research and clinical research, expanding and inherence development, current development and long term development, by oneself development and leveraging development. It is considered that the key points for research hospital involves serious disease treatment, emerging technology, international aid based complex traumatosis treatment, medical quality, clinical medicine scientist and informatization.
