MAO Zedong's self-reliance spirit and its contemporary value

自力更生精神是毛泽东精神的重要组成部分,它形成、发展于革命和建设实践并服务于革命和建设实践,其理论根基在于内因起决定作用和群众史观,其实质内容是始终强调物质生产劳动的基础性作用,探索适合中国的革命和建设道路,强调中国革命和建设的依靠力量首先是本民族,以及在劣势中看到优势的自信与乐观。自力更生精神对当今中国巩固社会主义经济建设成果,推动科学技术的发展进步以及传承中华文化的民族特色等诸多领域都有着不可忽视的重大启示作用。

The self-reliance constitutes an important part of MAO Zedong Spirit. It is formed and developed in the process of revolution and construction,and serves them in return. The theoretical foundation of Mao Zedong’s self-reliance spirit has two dimensions,i. e.,the internal factors play a decisive role and the mass determine history. MAO Zedong’s self-reliance spirit includes four aspects： stressing the fundamental role of material production labor;exploring the suitable roads for Chinese revolution and construction; relying on the strength of the national forces in revolution and construction;and emphasizing on optimism and self-confidence in disadvantages. The selfreliance spirit still plays an important role in promoting socialist economic construction,in the development of science and technology as well as in the inheritance of national characteristics of Chinese culture in contemporary China.
